The Jennie Show is a daily dose of how I view the world; no sweatpant too tight, no puppy too cute and no subject off limits. 39 years of life experience has brought me my awesome husband, an unruly but very soft-earred dog, and two delicious children. I love being a mom, cooking, ready historical biographies, running, skiing, Christmas, sauvignon blanc, lawn chairs and cheesy yacht-rock-style music (most often heard in a dentist office).

Hall & Steel Cut Oates
Pardon my absence-- I have been busy visiting D-Town Awesomeness. The reason for my pilgrimage back to the Mitten was primarily for Carrie's baby shower, however you can never emerse yourself in too much Michigan.
Adrienne did a FINE job hosting Carrie's shower. Held at Pine Lake Country Club, the luncheon was jammed packed with blasts from the past (a.k.a. high school friends that I haven't seen in YEARS). Carrie's awesome friend Kady did a great job decorating for the shower; all-in-all a great time. Not to mention, the head server played a glockenspiel to alert us that lunch was ready to be served. Who knew? Awesome.
Mrs. Julie McKinnon Hutt Wade, Mrs. Kathryn Ann Marie Ciceri Jardine and Mrs. Melissa Ann Wills Bowles make guest appearances at the shower. Holy great. I can't begin to tell you the stories I have with these chics-- I have known Katie since 2nd grade, Julie since 5th grade and Melissa since 6th grade. It makes me happy to know we have all held on to a common thread after so much time. All the ladies looked smashing at the shower; Katie having just birthed a 9 lb. baby and Melissa in the late stages of her pregnancy. I'm hoping we can all get together again sometime soon to catch up on gossip and recount the "good times."
Carrie got THE HOOK UP in terms of baby shower gifts. Baby Greta is going to be decked in the cutest, smooshiest clothes. I hope my niece will be born with a full weave, so I can style it into mohawks and dress her in kick ass baby "street gear."
All-in-all it was a great weekend in D-Town. What sealed the deal was hearing (on the drive back to Chicago) that the Red Wings have secured a spot in the playoffs. Yes. Great. Suck it Blackhawks.
I'm so over bandwagon Chicago fans saying "Detroit Sucks." Get a clue, find a new chant, and catch up on the history of your team. Just because you won the Stanley Cup last year doesn't mean your team will win it this year. That's the thing with bandwagon fans-- they don't realize that DEFENDING the Cup is the hard part. There needs to be less time talking about what lame Southside bar the Cup was at and who was drinking out of it, and more time discussing icing, power playing killing and foot races on the ice. So, while all YOUS GUYS were basking in the joy of first time Cup posession, the Detroit Red Wings were thinking of a way to get Lord Stanley back. Welcome to the playoffs. Have fun against Vancouver.
A LIST OF SORTS:
1.) Men that don't maintain proper nail cutting practices is the sickest thing ever. EVER.
2.) There is a reason why drug stores no longer sell Malibu Musk, so stop wearing it.
3.) Speaking openly about hating a particular group/community of people is not diplomatic. Check yourself.
4.) I am currently reading "The Dirt," a confessional about Motley Crue. Interesting.
